Teaching local children basketball while at the same time exchanging language.
Wednesdays 4-5:30 pm.

BridgeSport is an AUR outreach program based on sports diplomacy, and was originally designed to teach local children aged 8-13 basketball.

Without much language in common, its founding students used sports as their means of communication and interaction. The response from parish children and families was overwhelmingly enthusiastic and by the end of the semester, it had gone from a simple idea of diplomacy to creating a program whose mission is to bridge cultures and knowledge in a growing interconnected world through sport and sports diplomacy.

BridgeSport was created by University of Maryland student Marvin Mathew in 2012 and has been endorsed by ex-President Clinton’s Clinton Global Initiative University and People for the American Way.
