The Art History Club at The American University of Rome strives to take full advantage of its position in Caput Mundi. Its goal is to experience and appreciate everything Rome has to offer in the field of Art History. This may include ancient Roman sculpture and frescoes, medieval religious mosaics, Renaissance and Baroque paintings, not to mention the Modern art in Rome’s many commercial art galleries and museums dedicated to contemporary works.

The club keeps track of current exhibitions and events in and around Rome, organizing group visits and discussions on the works. Periodic lectures by artists, art historians, curators, and other experts are held throughout the semester. The purpose of the club is to form a community of all those interested in the appreciation and study of Art History and guide students on their path to becoming experts in the field.

The club aims to meet every two weeks and is open to both AUR resident and study abroad Art History Majors and Minors. Lectures, gallery and museum visits, and other events are open to all students interested in the subject.
