Our students are surrounded by the ancient splendor of Rome’s city center while also utilizing the latest tools and technologies to create film and video, 2D and 3D animation, graphic design, digital art, web platforms and apps for devices, interactive design and game design. All the while, our students from all corners of the globe are versed and grounded in the traditional principles and techniques behind the craft of making finished pieces that have something to say, aim to evoke change, or just make waves.
This program is offered by an award winning team of film and media faculty. The curriculum includes courses in film and video production, multimedia production, new media, screenwriting, photography, and film and digital media studies. Students may select one of two concentrations to focus their studies: Visual Media Production and Technology or Film and Digital Media Studies or, they may decide to pursue a broad program of study that includes courses from across the program.
Film and Digital Media students benefit from the use of the state-of-the-art Battista Multimedia Lab, which includes first-rate computer technology, software, and broadcast-quality cameras and film equipment. All students in the Film and Digital Media program develop portfolios as evidence of their learning and for use in applying for employment or advanced study after graduation.
Faculty and students work together to identify appropriate opportunities for internships in international companies and organizations which then frequently leads to employment after graduation. AUR students have participated in internships with National Geographic, The Discovery Channel, Vatican Radio, and the World Food Program’s Office of Television and Communications, as well as many local businesses and non profits specializing in the field. Learning in the classroom and in the workplace is fundamental to an AUR education and there are many opportunities to interact with real world clients within the confines of a supportive classroom environment. Our graduates have gone on to work in the film and TV industries in the USA and worldwide, started their own production and design businesses, as well as continued their education at top graduate schools around the world.
