AH 219 – RENAISSANCE ART FROM FLORENCE TO ROME

The course focuses primarily on painting and sculpture and traces the impact of Humanism on the arts in Florence under the patronage of the Medici and in Rome at the papal court of the 16th century.

The course will cover the works of Donatello, Botticelli, Raphael and Michelangelo. A large proportion of the class will be taught on-site in Florence and Rome. There will be a weekend field trip to Florence.

Pre-requisites: A 100-level Art History course.

Students arrange their own transportation to, and accommodation in, Florence.

Students are responsible for all entry fees.
