Debora Spizzichino

Born and raised in the heart of Rome, Debora pursued her Archaeology & Classics degree with AUR after participating in the pre-university English-language program. From a young age, she had dreamed of becoming an archaeologist: “not to search for dinosaurs but with the aspiration of finding Cleopatra's tomb.”  Aware of the challenging job market for archaeologists in Italy, she sought to enhance her qualifications with proficiency in English at AUR, which she believes was critical to paving the way for her subsequent international career in archaeology.

Debora earned a master’s at University College London (UCL), then worked on heritage-related projects until she secured a position as a Field Archaeologist at the Museum of London Archaeology (MOLA).  She then transitioned to post-excavation work before being awarded a PhD position abroad last fall.

“While focusing on ALL this, I still have not forgotten about that tomb!"
