To mark the 500th anniversary of the death of Raphael (1483-1520), The American University of Rome and the University of Kent’s Rome School of Classical and Renaissance Studies are hosting a discussion of new perspectives regarding the decoration of the Stanza di Eliodoro in the Vatican Palace.
Short papers will be presented by Professor Tom Henry (Director Rome School of Classical and Renaissance Studies, and Professor of History of Art at the University of Kent), Professor Paul Gwynne (Division Chair of Arts and Humanities, The American University of Rome), Dr. Claudia La Malfa (Visiting Lecturer at the University of Kent, and Adjunct Professor of History of Art, The American University of Rome) and Kostas Gravanis (Ph.D. candidate at the University of Kent). These will present new proposals relating to the date and iconography of the most beautiful of Raphael’s Vatican Stanze.
