Biography

Stefano Presutti is PhD in linguistics and Adjunct Professor at AUR - American University of Rome in Italian Studies Departments. Since 2015, he has been teaching Italian L2, anthropology and sociology courses at American universities and study programs in Rome, such as University of California (UCEAP), the Catholic University of America (CUA), The American University of Rome (AUR), the American Institute for Foreign Studies (AIFS), and many others.

The main courses he has taught so far are: Italian Food and Culture; Sociology of Contemporary Rome; Italian Language and Culture (all levels).

In his doctoral research, he investigated the Italian L2 acquisition development and the relationship between oral and written language in Western societies, especially at the graphophonological level.

Currently working on commodified identity and authenticity iconized by graphic signs in urban landscapes and brand logos; commodification and authenticity in food industry. His research interests include grapholinguistics, linguistic anthropology, social semiotics, visual communication and food studies. His work has been recently published in Q1 academic journals such as Lingua, Social Semiotics, Visual Communication, and International Journal of Multilingualism.
