The American University of Rome (AUR) is pleased to announce the appointment of four distinguished scholars and educators to its leadership and faculty ranks. These appointments reflect AUR’s ongoing commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and global engagement, bringing new expertise and energy that will directly benefit students across disciplines.

 

​Dr. Sabrina Joseph joins AUR as the new Provost and Vice-President for Academic Affairs. Dr. Joseph brings more than two decades of experience in international higher education, academic leadership and curriculum development, most recently serving as Provost at the American University in Dubai., Dr. Joseph is a historian specializing in the Middle East and Islamic world. Her international perspective and strategic leadership will play a pivotal role in expanding AUR’s global academic footprint and enriching the student learning experience. ​Mariangela-CiccarelloMariangela Ciccarello has been appointed Assistant Professor of Film. Most recently serving as Assistant Professor at the American College of Greece, Ciccarello is a filmmaker and scholar whose work has been featured at the Berlinale and MoMA. Her interdisciplinary approach - spanning documentary, fiction, and visual arts - will offer students in AUR’s Film and Digital Media programs immersive, practice-based opportunities grounded in international contemporary cinema.

 

​Lucia TralliLucia Tralli joins as Assistant Professor in Communication and Digital Media, with a research focus on digital culture, gender studies, and the politics of representation. Her work explores the intersections of digital storytelling and feminist discourse, equipping students to critically engage with today’s media landscape and emerging communication technologies.

 

​Tetyana-KholodDr. Tetyana Kholod has been appointed Assistant Professor of Business Administration. A truly international scholar with an M.A. and Ph.D. earned at the National Chiao-Tung University (NCTU), Taiwan, Kholod boasts an exceptional background in economics and international business, alongside previous teaching experience at John Cabot University, Dr. Kholod brings a pragmatic, data-informed approach to global business education. Her expertise will strengthen AUR’s business curriculum, providing students with tools for strategic thinking and cross-cultural management.

 

Together, these appointments represent a deep investment in AUR’s academic mission and the exapansion of AUR’s commitment to engaging the very best in their fields to help shape the next generation of global thinkers, creators, and leaders.
