The American University of Rome proudly announces Dr. Daniele Struppa, outgoing President of Chapman University and distinguished mathematician, as the recipient of its 2025 Presidential Medal of Honor. This recognition honors Dr. Struppa’s exceptional career as a scholar, his impactful leadership in higher education, and his role in fostering global collaborations.
Dr. Struppa’s academic journey is marked by significant contributions to mathematics, where his scholarship has notably advanced our understanding of complex mathematical concepts. Equally remarkable has been his visionary leadership at Chapman University, first as Provost and later as President. Under his tenure, Chapman University has experienced exceptional growth, elevating its research profile, academic excellence, and international presence - particularly evident in the success of its acclaimed film school.
The Presidential Medal of Honor also acknowledges the collaboration opportunities developing between Chapman University and AUR. Dr. Struppa has been instrumental in establishing discussions around long-term partnership opportunities, including study-abroad initiatives and transfer agreements that reflect both universities’ shared commitment to fostering globally-minded students.

The award ceremony honoring Dr. Struppa took place in the presence of AUR's Board of Trustees on May 7th, 2025, at the Lido Rooftop in Newport Beach, California.
