The American University of Rome has launched the public phase of Open Worlds, a $10 million comprehensive fundraising campaign to expand its campus, strengthen academic programs, and increase scholarship support. The university has already secured $6.7 million toward the goal through commitments from trustees, alumni, and friends.

The "Open Worlds" campaign focuses on five core pillars:

  1. Campus Expansion:
Growing AUR's physical footprint and modernizing learning spaces in Rome.

  2. Academic Excellence:
Investing in updated labs, classrooms, new research centers, and a prestigious new writer and artist residency program.

  3. Student Experience:
Expanding real-world projects, professional internships, and global mentorship networks.

  4. Scholarship Support:
Opening Rome and AUR's world to exceptionally talented students from across the globe.

  5. Annual Fund:
Securing vital unrestricted support through newly established giving circles, including the Founders Circle, and Battista Society, a new planned giving society dedicated to honoring the enduring legacy of former Board Chair Gabe Battista.

“The 'Open Worlds' campaign is about opening doors for our students to engage meaningfully with the world around them,"said AUR President Scott Sprenger. "Thanks to the extraordinary generosity of our Board of Trustees, alumni, and friends during the silent phase of the campaign, we have already made substantial progress toward our goal. Today, we invite our global community to join us in securing the long-term success of the university."
