Paola V. Termine is Adjunct Professor of Economics in the MA in Food Studies. She joined AUR after an extensive international career as development economist in the United Nations system.
Dr. Termine has worked for over twenty years on food systems governance, rural development, labour. Her work has combined research, policy analysis and dialogue with governments, international organizations, researchers, and civil society partners across Europe, North Africa, Sub-Saharan Africa, and the Middle East. In the last seven years she has provided technical advice to the High Level Panel of Experts on Food Security and Nutrition (HLPE-FSN) of the UN Committee on World Food Security, serving as technical review editor for the HLPE reports.
Dr. Termine recent areas of interest include food security and nutrition; resilience; and Indigenous Peoples’ food systems. She was among the proponents of the six dimensions of food security framework and has contributed to advancing this approach in policy and scholarly work. At AUR, she teaches the MA course “Food, rurality and local development”.
