On Saturday 22, 2020, the Peace Studies cohort attended a personal tour of the Mosque of Rome. The students are currently enrolled in a course taught by Dr. Shirin Zakeri that covers the subject of political Islam. Having learned more about the Islamic faith in the course, the cohort was able to experience the only mosque in Rome and interact with material discussed in class. The Mosque of Rome is one of the grandest in the Western world, being the largest in Europe itself. Its unique architecture seeks to include elements of Roman culture and the diversity of Islamic cultures around the world. This site visit allowed Peace Studies students to experience intercultural dialogue and appreciate the beauty present in the Islamic faith.
