Dr. Rossella Di Domenico is Adjunct Professor of Psychology at The American University of Rome, a licensed Clinical Psychologist and researcher. Her work explores the connections between individual and societal dimensions of health, well-being, cognition, behavior, and sustainability. Alongside academia, she maintains a clinical practice in Naples and online. Her international academic background and experience as an Italian expatriate have fostered a strong commitment to critical thinking, interdisciplinary research, and international collaboration.
Her research and teaching focus on interconnected areas within psychological science, including clinical and health psychology, biopsychology and cognitive neuroscience, environmental and climate psychology, and social and cross-cultural psychology. Her clinical and research work examines mental health and well-being, psychological adaptation, trauma-informed care, cognitive-behavioral interventions, behavior change across health, safety, and environmental contexts, as well as migration, identity, and cultural adaptation.

Dr. Di Domenico’s research has been supported through funding and scholarships from the Environmental Protection Agency (Ireland) and the University of Galway. She has coordinated collaborative research projects and contributed to interdisciplinary research programs, including the WaterMARKE project in Ireland.
Dr. Di Domenico has published in peer-reviewed journals and presented at national and international conferences, seminars, and interdisciplinary events, including those organized by the Italian Association for Behavior Analysis and Modification and Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (AIAMC), the Italian Society for Obesity Surgery and Metabolic Disorders (SICOB), the University of Galway, Teagasc (the Irish Agriculture and Food Development Authority), and University College Dublin.
Committed to advancing equality, diversity, inclusion, climate and environmental awareness, and international collaboration within higher education, Dr. Di Domenico contributed to the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Committee within the School of Psychology at the University of Galway, which received the Athena SWAN Bronze Award in 2021. She also developed and curated the 2026 public seminar series Behavior, Psychology, Environment, and Food Systems: Behavioral Insights for Sustainable Food and Climate Futures at The American University of Rome
