    Art of Rome
    Wednesday - 8:30 to 12:00 with TBA

"Join me for an extraordinary journey and walk with me through more than 2,000 years of history—literally and figuratively—from Rome's start to present day.  There is no greater glory for a student studying abroad than to learn about the art of Rome while standing in front of it.  The coffee breaks and gelato stops are pretty good too.—Prof. Allen"

Ancient to Baroque with Prof. Claudia La Malfa
    Tuesday - 9:00 to 12:00

"We start in antiquity and arrive at the seventeenth century looking at the ways in which classical art and architecture had a lasting influence on Medieval, Renaissance and Baroque artists. We explore the greatest theatre of antiquity, the Colosseum, the centre of ancient market life, the Market of Trajan, as well as the most incredible of the temples dating from 2000 years ago, the Pantheon. We visit the earliest churches built in the 4th century by Emperor Constantine and the first basilica dedicated by a pope to the Virgin Mary. We look at the masterpieces of Renaissance artists Raphael and Michelangelo in the Vatican Museum and in the Roman palaces and piazze, and we study the most dramatic paintings by the great genius of Caravaggio." —Prof. La Malfa

New Perspectives: New Technology in Renaissance and Baroqe Art with Prof. Jason Cardone
    Mon/Wed - 2:05 to 3:30

"Studying how Renaissance artists created their works and the techniques they used, gives us the chance, you could say, to enter practically into their minds and get closer to the world they inhabited. This aspect of Art History has always fascinated me." —Prof. Cardone
