Now based in Berlin, Catherine has developed a career at the intersection of green energy diplomacy and multilateral governance. In her talk, she traced her path from researching wind energy in the Golan Heights during her time at AUR to working with leading policy institutions, including the German Council for Foreign Relations, the International Power-to-X Hub, and the Research Institute for Sustainability.

Speaking with clarity and honesty, Catherine translated the often abstract world of policy into its day-to-day realities. She unpacked what “capacity building” looks like in practice, the strategic decisions behind choosing to specialize or remain interdisciplinary, and the important distinction between politics and policy - particularly for those seeking to work within European institutions.

Her message extended beyond career pathways. Reflecting on challenges ranging from hiring freezes to personal health setbacks, she emphasized the importance of resilience and perspective, underscoring that professional journeys are rarely linear.

The evening concluded with a focused discussion on networking, not as a transactional exercise but as a long-term investment in meaningful relationships, built on curiosity, generosity, and professionalism.

For students considering careers in international affairs, sustainability, or public policy, the session offered both insight and reassurance: a reminder that the path forward is shaped as much by adaptability and intention as it is by opportunity.
