AUR's 1-week summer professional development workshop aims to deepen participants’ understanding of AI tools and methodologies and how these can be integrated effectively into language classrooms to enhance pedagogy, learner engagement, and assessment practices.
Topics covered will include:
- Introduction to the use of Artificial Intelligence for teaching and learning languages and Italian as a second language/foreign language
- exploration and experimentation with AI-based tools and platforms through a practical, workshop-based approach
Participants will receive a certificate of attendance from The American University of Rome and Università di Perugia per Stranieri.
Course leader: Professor Letizia Cinganotto, Professoressa Associata di Didattica delle Lingue, Università per Stranieri di Perugia.
Letizia Cinganotto is Associate Professor of Modern Language Teaching at the University for Foreigners of Perugia, where she is Rector's Delegate for International Relations and Member of the Executive Board and Scientific Council of the CVCL. She is a member of the Scientific Committee of the CLIQ Association, as well as numerous other working groups and scientific committees at both the national and international level. In particular, she is a member of the consultancy team of the European Centre for Modern Languages (ECML) of the European Council. She is the author of numerous publications and books, including two recent volumes on Artificial Intelligence: Intelligenza Artificiale per l'Educazione Linguistica, UTET e AI-CLIL - Fare CLIL nell'era dell'Intelligenza Artificiale, La Scuola Sei. .

9:00 - 13:00 Final test, conclusion and reflections
Course requirements
Attendance and active participation in in-class activities.
Participants are encouraged to bring their own devices to interact with and experiment with AI-based tools and platforms..
