An architect, urban planner, and landscape historian, Dr. Quilici has been a central figure in the stewardship of Italy’s cultural and environmental assets for more than two decades. He previously served as Director of the Appia Antica Archaeological Park, and his contributions to the development of cultural routes, historic landscape conservation, and national heritage policy are widely recognized.
Dr. Quilici taught AUR’s undergraduate course in Cultural Heritage for several years, stepping back only when his leadership role at Appia Antica made regular teaching commitments unfeasible. Nonetheless, his relationship with AUR remained active: he continued to supervise MA theses in the Cultural Heritage program and delivered regular guest lectures. Dr. Quilici's engagement was particularly impactful during the COVID-19 period, when his digital lectures brought Italy’s cultural heritage into students’ homes - helping them remain connected to the world beyond the screen.
This latest appointment is a well-deserved recognition of Dr. Quilici’s distinguished career and an occasion for celebration across the AUR community. We extend our warmest congratulations and look forward to future collaborations under his expert leadership.
