Placement exams - Frequently asked questions

Why do I need to take an English Placement exam if I'm transferring English Composition credits?
Writing is the main assessment method at university, and we'd like to understand if you'll benefit from extra support while enrolled in our courses. We'll be signing you up for our English Help Desk, should you require it.

I'm Italian. Do I need to take the Italian Placement exam?
Not if you completed an Italian Maturità, or are transferring credits for Italian language from a previous institution. In other cases, we strongly recommend you take the Italian Placement exam, this will eventually allow us to waive your Italian language requirements (ITL 101 & 102). If you have studied some Italian and want to continue at more advanced levels, the placement exam will inform us which is the Italian language level best suited to you.

What is I studied Italian but not for credit?
If you have any knowledge of Italian but have no credits to prove your level, we encourage you to take the Italian Placement exam so you're placed at the appropriate level.
If you improved your Italian after having studied it, we encourage you to take the exam.
